An online lecture by Natalia Bubnova will be held at the Yabloko Party University
Press Release, 9.10.2020
On Thusday, 15 October, an online lecture by Natalia Bubnova, a leading researcher of the Institute of the World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, will be held at the Yabloko Party University. The lecture will begin at 19:00.
The topic of the lecture is “American Elections at the Peak of the COVID Epidemic and Domestic Political Confrontation”.
The US election campaign is taking place in an unprecedented environment of the COVID epidemic and a split between the nation and the elites, aggravated by the economic downturn. Donald Trump’s potential electorate has united the traditionally supportive “ordinary” Americans and residents of prosperous urban suburbs who are frightened of protests and pogroms. Which would be stronger: the fear of the epidemic working for Joe Biden, who accuses the Republican Administration of not being able to cope with it, or the fear of protests? So far, Joe Biden has been leading with some fluctuations. Russia has not yet been on his positive agenda. However, there may be activisation of bilateral arms control measures and other joint actions in areas of common interest.
