MP of the Moscow City Duma from Yabloko demanded resignation of the head of the Moscow Electoral Commission during taking the oath
Press Release, 17.09.2019
Maxim Kruglov, deputy of the Moscow City Duma from the Yabloko party, addressed Valentin Gorbunov, head of the Moscow Electoral Commission, during taking the oath. Kruglov blamed Gorbunov on the reprisals against those protesting in the streets for fair elections and said that the Yabloko faction would seek his resignation.
– Valentin Pavlovich, before you hand me the certificate [of an MP], I must say that the Yabloko faction considers you responsible for the fact that so many young people are in prison, for the fact that you could not hold normal elections. We will seek your resignation!
It should be noted that the release of political prisoners, termination of criminal prosecution of citizens for political reasons, as well as dissolution of the Moscow Electoral Commission will be the primary tasks for the Yabloko faction in the Moscow City Duma.
All four Yabloko candidates registered in the Mos
cow City Duma elections won in their constituencies: Sergei Mitrokhin, Yevgeny Bunimovich, Maxim Kruglov and Daria Besedina. Four more candidates were not allowed to run in the election due to far-fetched claims to signatures.
Activists and leaders of Yabloko took part in all street rallies for the fair elections held this summer in Moscow. Party activist Valery Kostenok became one of the defendants in the so-called “Moscow riots” case. He spent three weeks in jail until the Investigative Committee pleaded him not guilty.
