The history of Russia and its gears for Russia’s future. Lecture by historian Andrei Kosmynin

On Tuesday, 11 June, Andrei Kosmynin, historian and adviser to Grigory Yavlinsky, will deliver a lecture “The History of Russia and its gears for Russia’s future”. The lecture be held in the Moscow office of the Yabloko party (Pyatnitskaya, 31 bldg 2). The lecture will begin at 19:00.
Concepts basing of the alleged socio-cultural backwardness of Russia, never ending reiterating “cycles” of Russia’s history, which rushes from the “thaw” to new “frosts”, but is unable to “jump out” from the circle, deprive Russian society of will. However, political civil will is required so that to build the future for the country.
If we want to change the country, we must look for the pivotal points for modernisation in our history, culture, and public consciousness — those elements, trends and behavioral patterns that can be relied upon and developed in order to create a modern state in Russia. The lecture by Andrei Kosmynin will be devoted to the analysis of such pivotal points.
