Yabloko activists in Tula held a series of pickets
Police confiscated the picket placards the activists used in their pickets
Press Release, 23.05.2019
On 20 May, Yabloko activists held a series of one-person pickets in the centre of Tula. One Yabloko member picketed by the regional government office.
Initially the Tula branch of Yabloko planned to install information cubes in the city on 20 May in order to discuss the problems of environment, healthcare and the so-called garbage reform.
In total, Yabloko submitted 15 applications to the city administration (as required by the Russian law) for a permission to conduct picketing at different sites. However, according to the activists, the city administration refused to give a permission for the action in the city centre, rejecting all the sites for the planned action. It was proposed to conduct the action in the outskirts of Tula, in the Batashevsky Garden, as, according to the administration, the ruling United Russia party had allegedly took all the possible sites in the city for their pickets.
Also the Tula branch of Yabloko reported that police officers confiscated all the placards “United Russia = mafia. No to mafia!” they used in picketing.
