Today Grigory Yavlinsky, Chair of Yabloko’s Political Committee, proposed a new stage of the party development. Yabloko should become the party that puts moral, ethical and intellectual principles first.
“In the situation when absolute cynicism and total lies prevail, we need to offer the society an alternative. This has a practical meaning. One of the major reasons for the recent economic problems is lies and cynicism in economic relations, the loss of trust and deceit,” Yavlinsky said.
Persistent poverty, endless lies, lack of freedom and creativity, growing lawlessness and violence, the split of the public opinion over the cold war with the “fifth column”, a hybrid warfare with Ukraine, a real bloody war in Donbass, endless war in Syria, the expansion of illegal quasi-public armed units – all these things lead to a shift in public opinion, to its deformation and degradation.
In the respect the party has a very difficult task to protect the essence of life and see a real prospect of Russia’s development. This can be achieved by promoting the values that are contrary to those that Vladimir Putin is trying to enforce. Yabloko should be the party of values of life and development.
According to Yavlinsky, Russia’s modern life lacks the sense of values and moral foundation. A large number of modern politician no very little of conscience: murdering, stealing, robbing, mistreating people, lying and manipulating is allowed.
However, it is not possible to have an efficient economy, policy or life without the moral foundation only thinking of profit.
“Yabloko should become the party of moral and ethical principles and intellectual activity. I am speaking of moral in its direct meaning. This is part of our culture, we transmit it to politics, this is our face. We should become the intellectual centre when everything around is degrading,” he noted.
The party is ready to unite people who support these values.
“If millions of people join Yabloko, we will have a great political significance, we will be able to influence the deduction-making,” Yavlinsky explained.
According to Yavlinsky, it is important to prepare new politicians who would put moral values in the first place.They would be able to participate in politics when the time comes.
It is the duty of the party to provide an alternative like this.
“This is a risk – a moral risk, too. We are people, and we have our weaknesses. However, we should take responsibility. This is our stance: liberty, justice, law and something else that we have been insisting since the 1990s – there should be no lying and stealing,” Yavlinsky noted.
