Today renowned environmentalist Alexei Yablokov would have turned 85
The work on the film about the academic, politician and founder of the “Green Russia” is coming to the end

On 3 October, Alexei Yablokov (1933 – 2017), an outstanding Soviet and Russian biologist, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and founder of the Green Russia faction of the Yabloko party, would have turned 85. In the year of his anniversary relatives, colleagues and friends of Alexei Yablokov held several events in memory of the legendary academic.
Thanks to the efforts of his widow Dilbar Klado, a unique book #YablokovSad (The Yablokov’s Garden; the root of the family name Yablokov means “apple” in Russian) was published in April 2018, it pictures a portrait of a man who did an incredible contribution both in science and politics.
In the summer and autumn 2018, a traditional action Yablokov Sad (Yablokov’s Garden) of planting apple trees took place in the village of Petrushovo near Ryazan, where a scientist lived and worked for a significant part of the time. There was also a museum of Alexei Yablokov.
Now the work on a documentary about Alexei Yablokov is coming to an end. The launch of the documentary is scheduled for November.
