YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin inspected the Moskvoretsky Park on October 16. He found out serious violations of the environmental legislation and reached the stop of the illegal construction works.

YABLOKO leader and Irina Kopkina, head of YABLOKO counseling office, arrived at the park at the request of the local residents who protect the park from the illegal actions. The company “Lata Track” used the territory which they rent as a commercial ski trail.

Despite the absence of the agreement with the Department of Natural Resources Management and Environmental Protection the company started to cut down the trees, destroy part of the soil layer and destroy a hill on the territory of the park. What is more, part of the cut trees are heaped in an ravine and covered with soil.

Sergei Mitrokhin asked a representative of the Department of Natural Resources Management and Environmental Protection to arrive at the place. He came together with the two inspectors. Later head of the company Vecheslav Nenev joined them.

The representative of the Department of Natural Resources Management and Environmental Protection agreed with YABLOKO leader that the construction works were illegal and demanded from the head of “Lara Track” company to stop the works. After this Vecheslav Nenev ordered to stop the works.

“In the near future I’ll send an appeal to the Department of Natural Resources Management and Environmental Protection and demand to conduct the necessary inspections to stop the illegal works and bring criminal cases against the guilty”, said Sergei Mitrokhin.
