School of Local Self-Government held for activists of the Pskov branch of YABLOKO

On 24-26 March, School of Local Self-Government was held for activists of the Pskov branch of YABLOKO. The School was organised by the team of Yulia Galyamina, a research associate of the Moscow State University and a teacher at the Higher School of Economics, Moscow. Galyamina is also a co-founder of the public organisation Friends of the Park Dubki and was a candidate for the Moscow City Duma in 2014 and a candidate for the State Duma from YABLOKO.
The goal of the School is to prepare citizens for participation in municipal elections. The programme of the event consisted of lectures, trainings and workshops. 25 participants participated in the session of the School in Pskov. They studied election campaign strategies, learned how to form a team, as well as peculiarities of the electoral process. In each lesson, there was a place for active discussion between participants and teachers.
The seminars were held by Natalia Shavshukova, head of the project School of the New Power, Vitaly Chernikov former Mayor of Kaluga and political scientist, Oksana Muminova, business coach, Lev Shlosberg, deputy of the Pskov Oblast Legislative Assembly and Chairman of the regional branch of the YABLOKO party, Sergei Zimin, political technologist, Elena Mayatnikova, member of the Electoral Commission of the Pskov Region with the right to a decisive vote and lawyer and Dmitry Permyakov, Deputy Chairman of the regional branch of YABLOKO.
Civil activists from Pskov and the Pskov region, including YABLOKO activists, took part in the School’s seminars. YABLOKO activists shared their experience, discussed the upcoming election campaigns, and received recommendations from the School’s specialists.
The School’s seminars were held under the slogan “The Power Belongs to the People”.
