Nikolai Rybakov: what kind of a country is it with such level of aggression?
Blog post by Nikolai Rybakov, 09.09.2016
There has been an attack on the camp of Greenpeace volunteer firefighters in Kuban [the Krasnodar region, South Russia]. Shall we go on tolerating this?
[The attackers] broke nose to my good friend Mikhail Kreindlin, specialist in environmental law and world-class expert in the field of natural heritage, and he probably got a concussion.
Andrei Polomoshnov, volunteer from the Trans-Baikal Territory, seems to have his ribs broken. I am stunned and shocked. Environmentalists and their supporters went to the region from all over Russia in order to help fight against forest fires, help the locals to solve the problem the local authorities fail to solve – and instead of support, they are beaten and their camp destroyed.
It is a shame for Kuban. I have appealed to the Prosecutor General’s Office with a demand to take the investigation of the crime under his special control and as soon as possible identify and punish the perpetrators of the attack and those who ordered this crime.
