Only representative of the YABLOKO party Maria Yepifanova come to the first televised debate of candidates for the State Duma from the Ryazan region, that was broadcast by GTRK Oka at Russia-24 television channel on Monday, 22 August.

Consequently, Yepifanova was given the airtime of the missing candidates from other parties, and she spoke 12 instead of three minutes.

In her speech YABLOKO representative touched upon such problems on Ryazan as refinery emissions, poor quality of roads and rain drain system, spoke about dishonest developers, as well as the problems of the whole region.

“In my town Gus-Khrustalny regional children’s health centre and community centre were closed as they were located in the [former] Batashev’s estate and there is no money for their renovation and it is unclear when the money may be allotted. It is unclear what will happen now with the monument of architecture, which is being destroyed before our eyes,” the candidate said.

Yepifanova also spoke about the problems in the economy, healthcare, education and agriculture, as well as and patriotism and [YABLOKO representing] an alternative to the State Duma. Concluding her speech, she stressed that she was open to dialogue and called on the residents of Ryazan to go to the polls on 18 September.
