Court withdrew YABLOKO’s list of candidates from elections to Kursk Region parliament
On August 9, the Kursk Regional Court withdrew YABLOKO’s list of candidates from the elections to the Kursk Region parliament on the grounds of the LDPR party’s appeal. YABLOKO will challenge the decision in the Supreme Court.
LDPR claims that YABLOKO’s list of candidates is too short to run in the election. At the same time, the regional election commission had no claims against the party list of candidates and registered it: there is no direct reference in the electoral law, allowing election commissions not to register list of candidates on these grounds.
“We are following the federal law. The election commission registered us. Therefore, we are going to stand upon our rights in the Supreme Court while others will be looking for a smallest pretense to withdraw us from the election,” Alexei Shestavin, Chair of the Kursk branch of YABLOKO, commented.
There are 21 candidates on YABLOKO’s election list to the Kursk Region Duma.
