Grigory Yavlinsky: the country is eating up its reserves

Tatyana Nesterenko, Deputy Minister of Finance of Russia, has publicly told the truth:
1. Today, the situation in the economy appears to be stable only due to continues drawing on the financial reserves.
2. At the moment, according to Nesterenko, the country’s economy “is in the center of the storm” – in a situation “when everything calms down and looks quietly and safely,” but in fact this is the calm before the storm.
3. “If nothing changes (i.e., if no reforms are carried out), we will come to the end of next year with no reserves, and will be unable to pay wages, we will have serious economic problems”. This concerns, above all, the state employees. This sector has grown incredibly for the past ten years. Also the army, the police and all the security services, administrative staff, officials, teachers, doctors are all on the state budget…
That is, according to the heads of the Finance Ministry, if there is no reform, the Russian economy will face very big problems and a severe crisis will break out.
This is the main thing! The fact that no serious reforms are possible in principle in the present political system and under present government, because they will deprive the ruling group of its unlimited power and income. The present political and economic system is at a dead end, it can not be reformed. And this is further complicated by sanctions introduced against Russia.
So, the roots of our economic problems are purely political. We need to change the government peacefully and lawfully.
