YABLOKO demands that persecution of Committee Against Tortures must be stopped

Statement by the YABLOKO party, 10.03.2016
The YABLOKO party is outraged with the impertinent attack on the Committee Against Tortures human rights NGO on the border between the Russian republics of Ingushetia and Chechnya.
The coordinated actions of the armed group of men make it clear that this act of agression and intimidation was planned beforehand and was organised with the acquiescence of the authorities of the republic and local law enforcement or with thier direct involvement.
The leadership of Chechnya and Ingushetia bear full responsibility for yesterday’s attack on the human rights defenders and journalists.
The reprisals and persecution of the Committee Against Tortures must be stopped immediately.
We demand that the Ministry Of Interior, the Investigative Committee and the General Prosecutor Office must investigate these crimes, prevent the pressure on human right organisations and provide security of the civil society representatives who work in the North Caucasus.
