Statement by YABLOKO Human rights defenders’ faction, 06.03.2016
The Russian United Democratic party YABLOKO claims that the trial of Nadezhda Savchenko is revenge and reprisal. Although, the death of the two unarmed people must be investigated carefully and objectively, in practice the trial has zero reputation for a score of reasons: nobody takes it as JUSTICE. Nadezhda Savchenko’s references, including evidently equitable applications,such as for instance the application for transferring the trial to Voronezh, were not satisfied.

The incumbent authorities of the Russian Federation bear the primary political and humane responsibility for what is going on in the south-east of Ukraine. In connection with turning the trial into a farce now the full responsibility for Nadezhda Savchenko’s life lies on the Russian authorities and Vladimir Putin in person.

We consider it necessary that an international court which would be instituted according to a special procedure and would have the purpose and possibility to execute justice alone, not revenge or settling of scores or political persecution should take place to consider Savchenko’s case and all the events that have been taking place in south-east of Ukraine since 2014.

We consider it extremely important to make every effort to end the war, stop the suffering of innocent people and begin to forge relationships with our neighbors on the basis of laws, signed agreements and internationally recognised borders of states.
