SFP, 21.12.2015
The Swedish People’s Party of Finland (SFP), and together with it’s Women’s Association Svenska Kvinnoförbundet have the pleasure to announce the nomination of Ms. Galina Shirshina, Mayor of Petrozavodsk, Karelia, the region neighboring Finland, for the ALDE Group in the EU Committee of the Regions award – The LeaDeR Awards – for key liberal players at regional and local level.
We nominate Ms Shirshina for her transparent, open and anti-corruption policy in the region, her defense of the principle of local self-government, and her socially oriented policies. We find that Ms Shirshina deserves recognition on the European level.
The nomination was made by ms Anna Jungner-Nordgren, the Chari of the Svenska Kvinnoförbundet

The LeaDeR Awards recognise outstanding work of liberal and democrat politicians from the sub-state levels of government (e.g. municipal, county/province, region) around Europe that involve citizens in the decisions that affect them, make their lives better, build bridges and new partnerships. With the aim of sharing knowledge about that work, and by inspiring each other with new ideas, the Awards help to make new leaders and strengthen the ties between communities of Europe. Finalists will be announced at the ceremony in Brussels on 25 April.
