The St.Petersburg branch of Yabloko nominated 90 candidates to run in the municipal elections in St.Petersburg

On 28 June, the conference of the St. Petersburg branch of Yabloko nominated 25 more candidates for municipal deputies; earlier, on 24 June, the regional branch of the party nominated 70 candidates (five candidates will run in the elections in two electoral districts at once), the total number of Yabloko candidates who will compete for mandates in September is 90 people.
Voters will be able to vote for Yabloko in 21 municipalities of St. Petersburg. On 28 June, the party additionally nominated candidates in five more electoral districts. In addition, Yabloko strengthened the existing party teams in two more constituencies.
Yabloko candidates will run in the elections without collecting signatures in their support – due to the fact that the party is represented in the city Legislative Assembly. The campaign will be held under the general Yabloko slogan “For Peace and Freedom!”.
One of the delegates to the Conference was Yabloko Chairman Nikolai Rybakov, who noted that this summer the party must conduct a serious campaign that would show that many people in St. Petersburg support Yabloko’s position on the need for an urgent ceasefire agreement and the start of negotiations on a future peace. This applies to absolutely every person, because if this is not done now.
“Under current conditions, every vote for a candidate from Yabloko is a vote for peace, and it will be a success if, as a result, we become at least one step closer to peace. Thank you again, dear colleagues, we have a very big responsibility and much work this summer,” the Yabloko Chairman emphasised.
Chairman of the St. Petersburg Yabloko, Alexander Shishlov, thanked all the candidates who decided to run in the elections from Yabloko.
“We wish you strength and success, perseverance and victory. You are our vanguard, a lot depends on you,” Alexander Shishlov said.
Yabloko asks all St.Petersburg residents to support Yabloko candidates who consistently advocate the values of peace and freedom – help as volunteers and observers.
Among the candidates of the St. Petersburg Yabloko there are 34 women, five current municipal deputies, and three candidates of science. More than half of the candidates of the St. Petersburg Yabloko are under 35 years of age. Candidate for the Sosnovaya Polyana municipality Olga Yurkevich, a pediatric anaesthesiologist with 35 years of experience, was also nominated for by-elections to the Legislative Assembly in electoral district No. 18.
Yabloko’s candidates are people of different professions: entrepreneurs, journalists, teachers, artists, film directors, art gallery owners, artists, engineers, lawyers, builders, economists, IT specialists, railway workers, students, pensioners, historians, electromechanics, urban activists and human rights defenders and doctors.
