“Man is the measure of all things.” The teleplay “Sforza” was shown at Yabloko
Press Release, 15.04.2024
On 11 April, the television play “Sforza” was shown at Yabloko as part of the Another View” festival. The performance by Alexei Zherebtsov, based on the novel-play by Sasha Denisova, takes us to Milan in the 15th century. We find ourselves in the Middle Ages with all its attributes: a ruler behind the walls of the Kremlin; poisoning as a method of reprisal against enemies; and traditional spiritual ties and tarot.
The viewer has the feeling of watching something very familiar. Past and present seem to mix in the home of Duke Visconti and his family.
But soon the wind of change blows: love, humanism and freedom in the person of the protagonist of the play, the mercenary Francesco Sforza, make their way through the darkness of the Middle Ages and give birth to a new era of the Renaissance, in which man becomes the measure of everything.
After the performance, Alexander Userdin, who played the role of Duke Visconti, answered questions about the production and his work on the role.
Yabloko Chairman Nikolai Rybakov was also present at the screening. He stressed the importance of holding events where people can freely and openly discuss important topics.
Federal Bureau member Andrei Morev noted the unifying role of reason and human values in the darkest moments of human history.
Yabloko supporters Maria Voloshchuk and Olga Solntseva spoke about the importance of finding a language in which art can bring enlightenment.
Yabloko invites all to the next screening within the framework of the “Another View” festival at the office of the capital’s “Yabloko” (Pyatnitskaya 31 building 2) on 15 April: participants will watch and discuss the documentary “The Key for a Clockwork Orange” directed by Grigory Grishin and Olga Yakovleva – a film about a forgotten street war between “nationalists” and “anti-fascists”, which took over the streets of Russia in the 2000s, becoming an example of the eternal phenomenon of youth aggression. The event will start at 19:00. Registration is required.
