The Sverdlovsk Region branch of Yabloko held a picket against the deratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty
Press Release, 23.10.2023
On 22 October, the Sverdlovsk Region branch of Yabloko held a picket against the deratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty. The action was attended by members of the regional branch, Youth Yabloko activists and residents of Yekaterinburg.
The Chairman of the Sverdlovsk Region branch of the Yabloko party, Maxim Petlin, and the current deputy of the Yekaterinburg City Duma from the Yabloko party, Konstantin Kiselyov, came to support the picketers.
Sverdlovsk Yabloko thanks everyone who participated in the picket and expressed support for Yabloko’s position.
It should be noted that on 18 October, the State Duma adopted, in three readings, a bill on Russia’s withdrawal of ratification of the CTBT. The Yabloko party is convinced that in the context of growing tensions in the world and existing and potential military conflicts in where many countries are involved (Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Iran, China, Taiwan, North Korea, South Korea, etc.), such Moscow’s step will lead to further proliferation of nuclear weapons, including near Russian borders and with the prospect of escalating conflicts up to the use of nuclear weapons.
