On 24 December, activists of the Rostov-on-Don regional branch of the Yabloko party held a New Year’s charity event called “A Yabloko Pie” (in Russian “yabloko” means an “apple”). The participants baked apple pies under the guidance of chefs from the partner restaurant Shamaika House to donate them to nursing homes in the Rostov-on-Don region. There were ten fragrant apple pies in total. They were given to the Old Age in Joy Foundation, which took them to lonely elderly people.
Maria Krivenko, Chair of the Rostov-on-Don branch of Yabloko notes that refugees are now in the focus of attention in providing aid. However, we should not forget about other categories of citizens who are in a difficult situation.
“The idea of this action comes up from our activists. It is important for us that other categories of those in need are not forgotten. We should not forget about lonely elderly people. Indeed, they need warmth and support no less than everyone else in this difficult time,” Maria Krivenko says.

The Rostov-on-Don branch of Yabloko thanks everyone who helped to implement the idea and promises to go on with such actions. Yabloko asks Russian citizens to join the team of its activists, because together it is more efficient to do good deeds.
