On 31 May, police detained Sergei Mitrokhin, a Yabloko MP of the Moscow City Duma, a member of the Federal Political Committee of the Yabloko party and an ex Chairman of Yabloko, during his meeting with residents of the Khamovniki district, Moscow. The meeting was devoted to plans of a developing company for laying communications for the construction of elite apartments through the courtyard of the house located at the address 11 Yefremov Street.
Mitrokhin was detained and transported to the Khamovniki police station, where they drew up two protocols on an administrative offense against him – for “arbitrariness” and “a repeated violation of the established procedure for organising or holding a rally”. Under the second article, Mitrokhin faces arrest for up to 30 days.
Sergei Mitrokhin arrived at 11 Yefremov Street at the invitation of local residents, who had been trying to prevent the developer AO “GK EKS” laying of concrete blocks through their yard without any permits. There was a clash between the residents and representatives of the company, an unidentified representative of the developer tried to provoke Mitrokhin to a fight, after which Mitrokhin called the police, the police, however, did not provide assistance but decided to detain Mitrokhin rather than the attacker.
The trial of Sergei Mitrokhin is scheduled for 2 June.
