On 28 May, an expanded meeting of the Bureau of the Regional Council of the Yabloko branch in the Altai Territory was held. The Bureau discussed the political and socio-economic situation in the country and in the region and the tasks of the regional branch of Yabloko.

Despite the repression launched by the authorities against dissent, the Bureau of the regional Yabloko branch unanimously supported participation in the autumn municipal elections in the Altai Territory.

Repressions directly affected members of the regional branch of the Yabloko party. Speaking to the participants of the event, Alexander Goncharenko, Chairman of the Altai branch of Yabloko, said, “The priority election campaign of the party should be the campaign for the election of deputies to the Barnaul City Duma, where there are still elections according to party lists, and the main election slogan should be “We are for peace!”. Only peace will save many lives, including those of the residents of our region, lift sanctions, and this will contribute to the economic growth and the living standards of the population, that have been steadily declining in the Altai Territory since 2013.”

Due to the victory of Oleg Myshelov, a Yabloko candidate in the elections to the Pereyaslovskiy Rural Council of Deputies of the Topchikhinsky District, in 2017, candidates from the party are exempted from collecting signatures in their support in all upcoming municipal elections in the Altai Territory.

In addition, the members of the Bureau decided to establish the Kamensko-Shelabolikha inter-district branch of the party, and convene a meeting of the Regional Council of the party.

Deputy chairmen of the regional branch of the party, Yuri Ilinykh and Andrey Tkachenko, were instructed to conduct consultations with potential candidates for deputies, electoral commissions and authorities of municipalities where elections are planned.
