Yabloko has applied for May Day demonstrations “For Peace!” in Moscow, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Miass and Magnitogorsk.
In Moscow, the applicants for the action were Yabloko Chairman Nikolai Rybakov, Maxim Kruglov, head of the Yabloko faction in the Moscow City Duma, and Andrei Morev, head of the Yakimanka urban district, deputy chairman of the Moscow Yabloko.
The organisers proposed to officials different route options in case actions of other political forces take place in certain streets.
We deliberately do not publish the routes of the demonstrations, since the police have repeatedly brought to administrative responsibility people who posted information on their pages on social networks about filing applications, the police considered these messages to be a call to participate in unauthorised actions constituting administrative or even criminal offences.
We will notify our readers, as soon as the authorities approve or turn down our applications.
This is not the first attempt by Yabloko to hold “For Peace!” street actions in Russian cities. Thus, in Moscow, applications for demonstrations were submitted for March 12 and 27, however, the Moscow Mayor’s Office refused to give their permission for the demonstrations. Andrei Morev, the co-organiser of the actions, is challenging in court the refusals of the Moscow Mayor’s Office to give permissions for demonstrations in March.
