The results of the by-elections for a mandate of the Novgorod City Duma of the sixth convocation in single-mandate constituency No. 3, for which the Novgorod branch of the Yabloko party nominated Ksenia Cherepanova, have been summed up.
During the two days of voting, 1,493 people voted at the polling stations. Thus, the turnout in the by-elections was 9.57%. Ksenia Cherepanova received 10.54% of the vote.
“Mostly officials and state employees came to vote. The increase of the turnout with the help of the administrative resource was obvious. The voters were mainly those who had been told by their bosses whom they should vote for and when. Those who does not think and does not want to go into details, who, certainly, believe the propaganda. There were also those who leaving the polling station could not recollect the name of the candidate from [the ruling] United Russia [party] they have just voted for. And there were many such people. Some called on the phone and reported on implementing their duty,” candidate Ksenia Cherepanova commented on the voting process on social networks.
The candidate from the Yabloko party, Ksenia Cherepanova, did not recognise the results of the elections stating that the elections were neither free nor fair.
The election campaign of the candidate was held under the slogan “Cherepanova is for peace!”.
