On the street protests on 23 January, 2021
Statement by the Yabloko party, 22.01.2021
An unlawful repressive state with the unlimited personal, irreplaceable power of Vladimir Putin has been formed in Russia. The laws are being applied in the way that Putin and his ruling group wish.
The regime will use unlimited brutality and force against protesters. Protesters must be fully aware of the grave danger they and those they call to the streets will face. Calls to minors to participate in unpermitted actions are categorically unacceptable, such calls are irresponsibly criminal – no matter who they come from.
We demand from the federal and regional authorities the utmost self-command and self-restraint and non-use of violence against participants in peaceful political actions.
We demand an open and professional investigation of the criminal attack on the life of Russian citizen Alexei Navalny, and the creation of an international investigation team.
We demand the release of all political prisoners in our country, and there are now more than three hundred of them.
We will never give up our demands.
We know that we are facing long political struggle for the construction of a law governed Russian state – without dictators and paramount leaders, without bloodshed and revolutions.
Nikolai Rybakov,
Yabloko Chairman
