Konstantin Smirnov, deputy of the Dubrovsky Rural Settlement Council of Deputies, Chairman of Ryazan branch of Yabloko and Editor-in-Chief of vidsboku.com, began collecting signatures from residents against the impending decision to transfer a large plot of land to the heads of the Zeleny Sad construction company.

“During the robber-barons’ privatisation, the settlement was deprived of many of its lands, receiving nothing in return. However, there is land that has not passed into private hands and can be used for the needs of the settlement. This is a large plot of land in the southwestern part of the Alekanovo settlement along the coastline of Lake Velje. The market value of this land is dozens of millions of roubles. With this money in the settlement, one can solve literally all issues with roads, landscaping, lighting, etc. Or else the land should not be sold, but used for the needs of the settlement, ” the Chairman of the regional branch of the party said.

“However, in 2020, the administration of the settlement came up with an initiative to sell the land for a penny to the owners of the construction company Green Garden. Moreover, even before the issue was considered, the owners of the Green Garden installed a capital fence at the entrance, apparently believing that the issue had already been resolved. I managed to push through the decision of the Council of Deputies, which refused to sell the plot of land to the businessmen. However, now the regional authorities can take the land from the settlement and transfer it to the developers,” Konstantin Smirnov added.

The collection of signatures of residents has begun under an appeal to the Governor of the Ryazan region and the head of the Ryazan district administration demanding the following:

– explain what is happening with the indicated plot of land;

– hold a meeting and answer all questions from residents;

– provide guarantees that the land will not be withdrawn from the settlement;

– demolish the illegal fence.
