Press Release, 16.06.2014
Youth Yabloko filed an appeal to Prosecutor Geaneral’s Office and Moscow Prosecutor’s Office demanding to withdraw charges against the prisoners of the Bolotnaya Square rally case. An appeal against the court decision which adjudged eight prisoners of the Bolotnaya Square rally case guilty will be held on June 19, 2014.
“A peaceful opposition rally which was authorised with Moscow Mayor’s office had to take place at Bolotnaya Square, Moscow, on May 6, 2012, but it did not as the action had been driven away by riot police even before it began. The unarmed citizens who came to express the right for peaceful protest guaranteed by the Constitution were surrounded by the police, mass detentions and beatings of the citizens on behalf of law-enforcement started. ”
“The Bolotnaya Square rally case is politically motivated and the accused are innocent,” runs in Youth Yabloko’s appeal.
