Youth YABLOKO conducted picketing demanding to investigate murder of Timur Kuashev
Press Release,04.08.2014
Youth YABLOKO activists Nikolai Kavkazsky and Maria Yefimova conducted one-person picketing outside the permanent establishment of the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria in Moscow demanding to investigate the murder of opposition journalist, YABLOKO member Timur Kuashev.
The journalist was gone on July 31. The next day the workers of the Rescue Service found his body in the suburbs of Nalchik. The medical expertise didn’t show the cause of death. Timur Kuashev was buried on Saturday.
According to Maria Yefimova, the staff of the establishment responded to the picket immediately. A man came out of the building and accused the activists of not reading the new. He said that the investigation had started and the murderer of Timur Kuashev had been caught
[of course, the man lied aiming to make the activists leave].
“Timur was threatened. It’s obvious that a murder has taken place. It’s outrageous that the Investigative Committee refused to file a criminal case. We think that evenings possible should be done to punish the murderers of the human rights advocate. If the society doesn’t stand up to protect those who are threatened by the authorities, crimes will continue”, said the activists.
YABLOKO leader forwarded an appeal to head of the Investigative Committee demanding to file a criminal case on the murder of Timur Kuashev.
