Yabloko will host an online discussion on expanding the influence of party members and supporters on the decision-making process in the party
Press Release, 27.10.2020
On October 29, Yabloko will hold an online discussion “On expanding the influence of party members and supporters on the decision-making process in the party” organised by the Social Democratic and the Gender Factions of the party. The discussion will start at 19:00.
The following issues will be discussed:
Who should be elected by party-wide voting (by voting of all registered party members at the federal or regional level)? Are we ready to elect the Chair of the party and chairpersons of the regional branches in this way? Who will be able to participate in the competition for the post of the Chair – all candidates, or only party members who meet certain criteria, have passed the appropriate interviews and were approved by the governing body of the party?
Intra-party referenda. On what issues should they be conducted? A party-wide discussion: The practices of general party discussions will be used on the most acute or controversial issues. The discussion ends by a meeting of the Federal Council, at which the final round of the discussion takes place and the overall results are summed up. The party’s position is adopted as a result of the discussion and becomes an official position of the party. Thus, controversial issues maybe resolved, the basic values and decisions of the party gain stability.
Primaries. It is proposed to determine the leaders of the lists in federal, regional and local elections and candidates for all elective positions via primaries. At the same time, one must understand that the essence of the party’s personnel policy can only be a stake on meritocracy, when political functions and management rights are delegated to the most competent and moral party members who receive their powers in accordance with democratic mechanisms.
In what cases applications and proposals of party members should be submitted to the governing body (the Political Committee, the Bureau, the Federal Council, the regional Council of the regional Bureau).
Nikolai Rybakov, Ivan Bolshakov, Boris Misnik, Maxim Petlin, Grigory Grishin, Anatoly Golov, Valery Goryachev, Galina Mikhaleva, Andrey Morev and other party members will take part in the discussion.
Applications for participation and registration by e-mail golovspb@mail.ru.
Materials for the discussion will be posted on the party’s website and social media groups.
