Politician Boris Nemtsov was assassinated on the Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge outside the Kremlin on the night of February 27. During the last year of his life he openly protested against Russia’s war with Ukraine. YABLOKO claims that Nemtsov’s anti-war stance cost him his life. The party imposes political responsibility for the murder on the authorities on the whole and President Putin in person.
YABLOKO participated in actions in memory of Boris Nemtsov in 2015 and 2016. The party also held memorial actions in the regions of Russia. This years the FSB security service officers put pressure on the organisers of a rally in memory of Nemtsov in Stavropol, south Russia. YABLOKO Chair Emilia Slabunova forwarded a request to FSB Chief Alexander Bortnikov demanding to bring the FSB officers, who are persecuting YABLOKO Youth activists in Stavropol, to responsibility.
