The election campaign has ended in Russia. The Yabloko party and its candidates participated in it, realising that we were participating in the elections held in the regime of a special military operation launched on 24 February, 2022. Our candidates were not allowed to be nominated through application of new laws, and they were removed after the nomination (every fifth candidate in the elections in Moscow was removed). Nevertheless, 462 Yabloko candidates took part in these elections in 12 Russian regions.
We have provided an opportunity for 2,167,203 voters to vote for peace, against the policies pursued by the current authorities of our country, and support our main slogan “FOR PEACE AND FREEDOM!”.
During this campaign, we conveyed to the voters our stance and our proposals for the very first steps to achieve peace between Russia and Ukraine.
The official voting data in Moscow, as of 01:00 a.m. of 12 September, 2022, show that most of the candidates nominated by Yabloko received strong support from Muscovites and would have been elected deputies. However, these results do not include the results of remote electronic voting.
It is possible that the remote electronic voting system will be used to change the results already by today’s morning.
In the current extremely special conditions, we express deep respect and solidarity with all voters who have decided to almost openly stand for peace and freedom and, thus, supported Yabloko and our candidates in Moscow, the Pskov region, the Sverdlovsk region, the Krasnoyarsk Territory and other regions.
Yabloko will continue to work in Russian politics so that to defend and promote the stance that millions of Russians support and present a European democratic alternative to the current dead-end course.
Nikolai Rybakov,
Yabloko Chairman
