YABLOKO leaders and activists marched through Moscow to honour Boris Nemtsov. YABLOKO’s column carried a banner which said:”The party of peace is against war”.

YABLOKO leaders – Chairperson Emilia Slabunova, Deputy Chairperson Alexander Gnezdilov, members of the Federal Political Committee Grigory Yavlinsky, Sergei Mitrokhin, Victor Sheinis, Lev Shlosberg, party representatives from Saratov, Ivanovo, Samara, Irkutsk and other regions of Russia arrived from YABLOKO Congress to participate in the demonstration.

The delegates of YABLOKO Congress commemorated Boris Nemtsov with a minute of silence during the opening of the meeting. “When do political murders take place? They take place when the authorities have no arguments, no answers to the questions of the society and the only thing left is to shoot. A years ago the authorities told the society: “there are no answers”. Only bullets are left,” Emilia Slabunova said.

In his special address to the Congress, dedicated to the tragic date, Chair of YABLOKO Federal Political Committee Grigory Yavlinsky stated that Boris Nemtsov had been murdered exceptionally on political grounds “as an opponent of the current political course, as an open and notorious adversary of Vladimir Putin’s political course”. According to Yavlinsky, “there will be no improvements, changes, reforms under this course, under these authorities. The authorities have lead themselves into a dead lock and they will not find the way out”.

According to Yavlinsky, the aim of getting into the parliament and influencing the authorities is already outdated, it is of much lower scope than the tasks people have to coop with. “One must stop those who murdered Boris Nemtsov and strive after the future of the country,” Yavlinsky said.

More than 25 thousand people participated in the demonstration.

After the demonstration YABLOKO representatives went to the Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge and laid flowers to the scene of the crime. Thousands of people came to honour Boris Nemtsov. “The Bridge shows that the peoeple have understood everything and have forgotten nothing. The murder of Boris Nemtsov has become a symbol of the villainy of the current authorities, and the people will never change their opinion of the authorities,” Lev Shlosberg commented.

The representatives of YABLOKO from different regions of Russia, who did not manage to participate in the demonstration, laid frowers to the grave of Boris Nemtsov at the Troyekurovskoye cemetery the day before.
