YABLOKO participated in rally against school merger

The YABLOKO party participated in a rally against the merger of a boarding-school for gifted children with gymnasium No 1588. The rally was organized by the teachers and parents of the school children. 
More than 1000 people came to protest against the education reform which is being introduced. Its aim is to merger educational institutions so that to reduce financing.
“The authorities gave up the intensive development of economics, science and industry and concentrated on oil and gas sector. The authorities don’t need we’ll educated people, they need those who will be loyal to the system”, said YABLOKO’s municipal deputy Grigory Semyonov.
YABLOKO member and municipal deputy Elena Rusakova said that teachers and parents usually turned to her for help when school merger takes place. “No one has ever supported the initiative of school merger. Everybody knows that it destructs education”, she emphasized.
