Press release, 17.10.2016
On October 15, a malefactor broke the window in YABLOKO’s office in Veliky Novgorod and got inside the building.
He opened all the drawers, rummaged the documents, scattered campaigning materials. The man was detained by police as he made an attempt to flee the scene. According to eyewitnesses, the man had a package which the police failed to find.
The Novgorod branch of YABLOKO claims that the break-in is aimed at intimidating activists before the demonstration for fair elections which will take place on October 23. The itinerary of the demonstration has not been authorised by the City Hall yet. The action was to take place on October 15 but had to be cancelled since the City Hall failed to authorised the demonstration three times.
