YABLOKO handed over books to Dante Alighieri Library
Press release, 30.05.2016
On 27 May, the All-Russia Library Day, YABLOKO Deputy Chair Alexander Gnezdilov, Federal Bureau member Ivan Bolshakov and the party activists handed over several dozens of books to the Dante Alighieri Library. Earlier this year the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation tried to deprive the library of its premises.
The YABLOKO activists also gave the library workers the written greetings from the party Chairperson Emilia Slabunova and discussed the current situation with the library.
The activists handed over the books by Grigory Yavlinsky, Isaiah Berlin, Gerhart Baum, Ludwig von Mises, the editions by YABLOKO, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, other books on history, economics, political science and the book by Alexander Gnezdilov “The Theatre without Conventionalities”.
In his interview to YABLOKO TV Alexander Gnezdilov commented on the annual party action on giving books to libraries.
“This year the Investigative Committee which shares a building with the Dante Akighieri Library was trying to deprive the library of its premises. From our point of view, the Investigative Committee should be interested in maintaining the library. There is a famous quotation that if one does not construct libraries, museums and theatres, one will have to construct prisons sooner or later,” Alexander Gnezdilov said.
Head of the cultural projects department Victoria Borisova spoke about the way the Dante Alighieri Library was working at the moment.
