Press release, 19.09.2016
The YABLOKO party held its factions in the Legislative Assemblies of St. Petersburg, the Republic of Karelia and the Pskov Regional Assembly. YABLOKO’s list of candidates gained 9.53 per cent of votes in St. Petersburg, 9.89 per cent in Karelia, and 6.19 per cent in the Pskov Region.
Moreover, YABLOKO will form factions in the city parliaments of Perm and Kaliningrad. YABLOKO’s list of candidates in Perm headed by Nadezhda Agisheva gained 7.3 per cent of votes, the list in Kaliningrad headed by Alexandra Yakovleva gained 5.7 per cent of votes.
YABLOKO gained high level of support in parliamentary elections in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The average result in Moscow made 9.5 per cent by Monday morning. More over, the rate in some districts was higher: the Central Administrative district – 14.5 per cent, Cheremushkinsky district – 13.7 per cent, Tushinsky – 12 per cent, Leningradsky, Kuntsevsky and Babushkinsky – 11 per cent.
YABLOKO gained 21-26 per cent (from 88 to 159 votes) at 8 out of 9 polling stations in the Arbat district (the Central Administrative district). It means that YABLOKO came second with the ruling United Russia party gaining 27-29 per cent (from 130 to 207 votes). However, 1100 people (54 per cent) voted for United Russia at No 9 polling station. Therefore, YABLOKO gained only 2.57 per cent (56 votes) there. As a result, YABLOKO’s average result in the district was lowered and made 16 per cent. It is likely that a large number of people voted for United Russia there using absentee voting certificates, the same way as it happened at other polling stations in Moscow.
The average result of YABLOKO at parliamentary elections in St. Petersburg made 8.5 per cent. YABLOKO also gained higher results in some districts of the city. This way the party gained 12 per cent in the Central district and came second after the ruling party and gained 10 per cent in Severny district.
