“First of all, we would like to clarify the grounds for imposition of food embargo and suggest that the Court must lift the sanctions since they do not meet their aims and afflict damage to the citizens of Russia,” Gnezdilov said.
YABLOKO members claim that the counter sanctions which were introduced in 2014 and extended in 2016 are not constitutional since Article 5 of the Constitution of the RF runs that “no laws shall be adopted cancelling or derogating human rights and freedoms in the Russian Federation”. According to the claimants, the ban of foreign food products violates the rights of of the citizens.
The claim will be considered by the Supreme Court within two months.
