YABLOKO disputes the election results in Kirovsky District of St. Petersburg
Rosbalt, 03.10.2016
YABLOKO representatives are going to dispute the results of the election to the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg in the Kirovsky district. The claim concerns the election results at 25 polling stations, YABLOKO candidate Andrei Palevich told the Rosbalt news agency.
“I was running as a candidate in the single mandate constituency No 17, there only 70 polling stations there. We decided to dispute the elections results reported by 25 ballot commissions. If the court declares the election results at 25 per cent of polling stations – it means at least at 18 polling stations – invalid, the election result [in the district] will be overturned,” Palevich explained.
YABLOKO appealed to the Kirovsky District Court. The party representatives have already requested the video recording from all the polling stations, which in their opinion raise doubt. They will try to prove it in court that the election fraud took place by means of “carousels” in favour of the ruling party. It also concerns the situation which took place at the polling station No 616 of the Kirovksy district when Denis Korotkov, a journalist from the Fontanka.ru agency, managed to get ballots instead of another person. The journalist was later accused of violating part 2 article 5.22 of the Administrative Code (illegal issue and receipt of an election ballot). The court postponed the hearing of the case until the end of October.
