YABLOKO conducted pickets against violence to women

On November 28 YABLOKO Gender faction conducted pickets against violence to women within the campaign “16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence” under the aegis of the United Nations.
The campaign aims to attract the attention of the authorities, mass media, public organisations to the problem of violence against women. In the Russian Federation there is still no law on protection of women against domestic violence despite the fact that more than ten thousand women in Russia die of domestic violence each year.
YABLOKO activists spoke about the necessity of the state support to the women who suffered violence.
“At the moment Russia makes the choice weather to become an authoritarian state where a traditional role is prepared for a woman or to make the European choice where men and women are equal in all spheres of life”, said YABLOKO activists.
