YABLOKO conducted picket against hatred in Moscow

Committee for Joint Action Against Xenophobia conducted a picket against hatred in Moscow, December 10. Representatives of YABLOKO, Moscow Helsinki Group, trans-regional Uzbek community “Vatandosh”, municipal deputies participated in the action.
The action is confined to the International Human Rights Day and International Migrants Day celebrated on December 18. The event was aimed to attract the attention of the society and authorities to the problem of cross-ethnic relations, growth of nationalistic moods and tendency to conflict.
About 15 activists held the posters that said “No to hatred”, “Destroy Russia – start with Moscow”, “Russians=Kalmyks=Dagestanis=Tatarians=citizens”, “Russia for the Russians, Tatarians, Udmurts and other 180 peoples of Russia”. The participants of the actions handed out leaflets which told about the goals of their Committee and the danger of xenophobia and nationalism.
Secretary of YABLOKO Political Committee Galina Mikhaleva said that the main aim of their work was to protect the rights of the citizens.
Head of the trans-regoinal Uzbek community “Vatandosh” Usman Baratov spoke about the difficulties that migrants face.
The actions against hate will also take place in the other Russian regions cities.
