The Yabloko Bureau expels party members who supported Yabloko competitors in the elections
Press Release, 29.12.2021
The Yabloko Party Federal Bureau, at its meeting on 28 December, expelled from the Moscow regional branch a number of party members who grossly violated the party by-laws.
The reasons for expelling were as follows:
– nominating their own candidates in the elections to the Moscow City Duma against candidates nominated by Yabloko;
– support in the elections to the State Duma and the Moscow City Duma of candidates who competed against Yabloko candidates;
– signing and distribution of collective appeals containing false statements discrediting the Yabloko party and causing political damage to the party during the election campaign, as well as before and after it, in particular, calling the decision of the party’s Federal Political Committee “public denunciation”.
Such actions entail the strictest party responsibility in any party in any democratic country.
The Bureau also registered 28 people at the St. Petersburg regional branch, including Alexander Shishlov, former Ombudsman for Human Rights in St. Petersburg and now the deputy of the Legislative Assembly from Yabloko. In accordance with the law, he had to suspend his party membership for the period of his office as Ombudsman (until September 2021).
