The Tatarstan branch of Yabloko will hold a round table on domestic violence

The regional branch of the Yabloko party will hold a round table on prevention of domestic violence in Russia in Kazan on 30 November.
The guests will learn the speakers’ opinion on the need to adopt a law on prevention of domestic violence in one of its versions, discuss the possibility of changing the present legislation, including the Criminal and the Administrative Code, as well as the need and importance of preventing domestic violence.
The round table will be attended by Marina Galitskaya, Director of the Kazan Crisis Centre for Women Fatima, Iskander Yasaveyev, social scientist and doctor of sociology, psychologist Ulyana Pronkina, Anastasia Alfimova, activist and one of the creators of the Kazan movement “FemKyzlar”,and co-founder of the movement Dina Utesheva.
Saria Saburskaya, Ombudsperson for Tatarstan, also intends to take part in the event.
It should be noted that a draft law on the prevention of domestic violence has been submitted to the State Duma. The draft law provides, in particular, introduction of the institution of protective orders and temporary shelters for victims. The Yabloko party demands immediate adoption of a law on the prevention of domestic violence. On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Yabloko went on mass actions in Moscow, Kazan and Nizhny Novgorod.
