Deputy Chairman of the Saratov branch of Yabloko Fyodor Demyanchuk sent an open letter to the Ombudsman for Human Rights in the Saratov Region. Demyanchuk called on the regional Ombudsman to prepare a special report on massive violations of citizens’ rights in Saratov during the January and April protests, as well as send a report to the Saratov Regional Duma.
Demyanchuk noted that he was concerned by the alarming situation in the field of human rights protection and abuse by law enforcement agencies. The letter summarises the most frequent violations of human rights, in particular: freedom of assembly, the right to qualified legal assistance, freedom and personal inviolability.
Fyodor Demyanchuk created a Telegram bot for legal assistance to those detained at protest actions in Saratov and have been defending the participants of the rallies in courts.
