The Novosibirsk branch of Yabloko demanded to deprive the deputy of the Novosibirsk City Council, who cheated in the elections, of his mandate
Press Release, 22.09.2020
Representatives of Yabloko in Novosibirsk insist on revising the results of elections to the Novosibirsk City Council in single-mandate constituency No 35.
The local organisation of the Yaboko party forwarded an open appeal to Tamara Kratkaya, Chair of the Novosibirsk City Municipal Electoral Commission with a demand to deprive Yevgeny Yakovenko of his deputy mandate and to revise the results of elections to the City Council in single-mandate constituency No 35. Yabloko asks to remove the Chairman of the precinct electoral commission from his post, as well as the Chair of the territorial electoral commission.
It should be noted that candidate Yevgeny Yakovenko got the majority of the voted in the elections to the Novosibirsk City Council in single-mandate constituency No. 35. However, observers reported that a mass transportation of voters – military students to polling station No. 1833, the students did not have registration in the constituency and voted without showing their passports in violation of the legal procedure. As a result of the manipulations with the voter lists, the “stuffing” of faked ballots were enough for Yakovenko to receive the number of votes required for a victory.
“We think that such cases of arbitrary attitude towards the expression of the will of the people will contribute to creating an atmosphere of distrust towards the existing electoral system and elections in general,” runs Yabloko’s appeal.
