The democratic opposition supported the nomination of Yabloko’s Alexander Lazutin as a candidate for Governor of the Kostroma region

The Kostroma regional branch of Yabloko, the environmental movement For Life, and the public organisation People’s Power decided to support the nomination of Alexander Lazutin, Chairman of the Kostroma regional branch of Yabloko and Director General of Shunga agricultural enterprise, as a candidate for the gubernatorial elections that will be held in the Kostroma region on September 13.
This was announced today, on June 17, at a joint press conference in which the leaders of the three organisations took part:
– Alexander Lazutin, Chairman of the Kostroma regional branch of the Yabloko party and Director General of the Shunga agricultural enterprise;
– Andrei Starun, Chairman of the Kostroma regional public organization People’s Power,
– Valentina Yamshchikova, Co-Chair of the Kostroma regional public environmental movement In the Name of Life and deputy of the Duma of the City of Kostroma from the Yabloko party.
The Kostroma branch of Yabloko, In the Name of Life, People’s Power and a number of other public and political organisations will join the emerging democratic coalition in support of Alexander Lazutin in the upcoming elections.
The federal leadership of the Yabloko party also supported Alexander Lazutin. In accordance with the law, the final decision on his nomination will be made at a conference of the regional branch of the party on the evening of June 19, and on Monday, June 22, all documents will be submitted to the regional electoral commission.
Alexander Lazutin was both on 27 Ocotber, 1960. He graduated from the Agricultural Institute with a degree in scientist agronomist. Immediately after graduation, he began working in agriculture.
In 1993 he founded his farm Dream. At present the farm Dream is a leader in the production of potato and vegetables in the Kostroma region. He reorganised the bankrupt agricultural cooperative into a competitive joint-stock company Shunga, which ranks first in milk production, and is a model agricultural enterprise as regards protection of environment, organisation of work and leisure for workers. With the participation and support of Lazutin, four agricultural farms and a horse farm were opened on the territory of the Shungen rural settlement.
Since 2002, Alexander Lazutin has been Chairman of the Association of Farms of the Kostroma Region.
Lazutin has been developing the agricultural cooperative movement in the Kostroma region: cooperatives Polye (Field) and Agro-Kostroma work on the basis of modern technologies, produce high-quality products and are competitive.
In 2006, Alexander Lazutin was elected a deputy of the Kostroma Regional Duma and Chairman of the Committee on Agrarian Policy, Natural Resources and Environment. Law that are important for residents of the region in the areas of agriculture, urban planning, the use of natural resources, and nature conservation were developed under his leadership. In his work Lazutin prioritised the problems of rural development, including creation of modern infrastructure of the Kostroma villages, construction of roads, development of agricultural production, and protection of the social interests of poor citizens.
In 2010, on his initiative, sectoral agricultural unions and organisations merged into a single agrarian community called the Kostroma Agrarian Union. Lazutin was elected its President.
Alexander Lazutin is an Honored Farmer of Russia and Honored Agricultural Worker of the Kostroma Region.
He has a big family: wife, three daughters, two sons and three grandchildren.
