The Tambov Regional Court refused the administrative plaintiff from the Russian Party of Freedom and Justice to cancel the registration of Vladimir Zhilkin, a Yabloko candidate for the State Duma in single-mandate constituency No. 177.
The essence of the lawsuit was in quibbles about the size of letters, as well as unreasonable requirements for the provision of unnecessary documents not stipulated for by law.
“The court rejected the wishes of some candidates and did not allow to turn the court into a place for red tape and abuse of the law. I hope the all the litigation are left behind now, which means it’s time to shift the focus to campaigning,” Vladimir Zhilkin said.
Vladimir Zhilkin also thanked the lawyer S. Pronin, the electoral lawyer E. Poroshin, the Yabloko lawyers and numerous friends from the field of human rights protection, as well as the citizens of Tambov, for their help and support, that they believed in him and supporting him.
