The City Court of Miass, the Chelyabinsk region, dismissed two administrative cases of “discrediting the armed forces” against school teacher Tatyana Merzlyakova. This information comes from Valentina Komkova, Chair of the Miass branch of Yabloko, who acted as a defender of the teacher in court.
Earlier, Miass police officers drew up three protocols against Tatyana Merzlyakova under Article 20.3.3 Part 1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation for her alleged public expression of her position “NO ** ***” written on asphalt in order to bring a criminal case against her.
The court dismissed two charges, but fined Merzlyakova according to the third protocol of offense. Currently, this decision of the Miass court is being challenged in the Chelyabinsk regional court.
Valentina Komkova, Chairwoman of the Miass branch of Yabloko and human rights activist, defended Tatyana Merzlyakova at each of the trials despite the pressure exerted on her by the law enforcement.
