Sergei Mitrokhin on the situation in Kiev
Press Release , December 3, 2013
Answering questions from the BBC on the situation in Kiev, YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin said that the Moscow authorities and the opposition should show calm and balanced attitude to the events in Kiev: “It is better to engage in the developments in our country, rather than interfering in the affairs of others. It is wrong, when Russia is trying to influence the situation in another country. This can hit back on our country later. “
Sergei Mitrokhin said that “Euromaidan ” is already second after the Orange Revolution , but a more meaningful attempt of the Ukrainian society to define their movement towards Europe: “The society is disappointed and demands definite steps towards Europe, and in my opinion, this vector towards the European development has already become irreversible for Ukraine. The most important thing for Ukrainian politicians is to keep the situation under control for peaceful solutions, get rid of provocateurs and make new elections in accordance with the requirements put forward by Maidan today. “
