On August 25, candidates for the State Duma from the Yabloko party held single pickets (such pickets do not require any permissions from the authorities) in front of the Ryazan Region Government office with a poster “Ryazan is being poisoned. The Governor is keeping silent”. The action is aimed at drawing attention to the problem of air pollution in the region due to emissions from industrial enterprises.
Journalist Konstantin Smirnov, lawyers Andrei Lyubimov and Anatoly Kivva, teacher Vladimir Sadofiev went on pickets. All the participants of single pickets are candidates for the State Duma and run in Ryazan, Tambov and Penza regions as candidates on the Yabloko list.
Activists of the Ryazan branch of Yabloko state that the Governor of the region Nikolai Lyubimov ignores the problem of air pollution from industrial enterprises. For the past two weeks, the residents of Ryazan have been suffering from the strongest emissions, but the Governor never spoke about this.
The Yabloko party pays special attention in its electoral programme to the environmental problems of Russia. If Yabloko passes to the State Duma, it intends to defend the environmental rights of citizens, namely the right of residents to the favourable environment when solving any issues of construction or development of territories.
