YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin had a working visit to North Ossetia and Ingushetia on April 11-13. He laid a wreath at the monument to 2004 Beslan victims, had a meeting with the activists and participated in the conference where the new chair of the Ingushetia branch of YABLOKO was elected.

A working conference on “The problems of memorialization of the participants of the civil war in Russia” took place in the Memorial human rights centre on April 14. The guests of the conference decided to carry education policy on the events and heroes of the anti-Bolshevik resistance and to present a report on the most controversial events of the civil war in the near future.

Draft Federal Law № 469827-6 “On Amending the Federal Law “On General Principles of Local Self-Government in the Russian Federation” has been submitted to the State Duma. The draft law was developed by the working group of the All-Russia Local-Self-Governance Council and the Congress of Municipalities in implementation of President Vladimir Putin’s order on another local self-governance reform. On Sunday, 6 April, an anti-war rally of solidarity with the Ukrainian people and for both Russia and Ukraine joining the European Union was held in Arkhangelsk. The regional branch of the YABLOKO party participated in the action.
“Today we have gathered here so that those Russians who welcome annexation of Crimea to Russia would think what they are approving of. We have gathered here to try to shake the confidence of those Russians who are in favour of allowing the state media to lie,” Polina Shubina, Chair of the Arkhangelsk branch of YABLOKO, said.

The Government of the Russian Federation prepared regulation “On establishing a ban on the admission of goods (certain kinds of medical products) originating from foreign countries for the purposes of procurement for state and municipal needs in order to protect the domestic market of the Russian Federation”.
If the regulation is adopted, the state and municipal medical institutions will be forced to purchase medical equipment and products produced only in the Russian Federation in the Republic of Belarus or Kazakhstan. Read more »
