Viktor Grin, Deputy Public Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, cancelled the decision on closing of the criminal case on election fraud in the Moscow region adopted in the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Moscow Region. Now the Investigative Committee can start investigation of the criminal case on rigging of the votes during elections to Zhukovsky Municipal Council, on 14 September, 2014. Public Prosecutor General’s decision was taken on 3 April, 2015, but YABLOKO received information on this decision only today. Read more »

The presidential Council for human rights is outraged with the lack of privacy of lavatories in Russia’s colonies and ask head of the Federal Service for Execution of Punishment Gennady Korniyenko to improve the situation. Andrei Babushkin, member of presidential Council for human rights and YABLOKO Bureau member, forwarded a relevant appeal to Kornilyenko. The human rights defender claim that absence of toilet cabins humiliates prisoners, favour the development of insanitary conditions and provokes conflicts. However, experts claim that one will hardly manage to seek privacy for prison lavatories since about 50 thousand bathroom units demand redecoration. It’ll be difficult to find financing due to the current economic situation.

Financial problems of the Lenenergo energy company are caused by inefficiency of the investment programme, as well as lack of the balance for heat and electricity in the St.Petersburg Heating Schemes up to Period 2030. Such a statement was made today by Grigory Yavlinsky head of the YABLOKO faction in the Legislative Assembly of St.Petersburg. Yavlinsky is certain that if St.Petersburg authorities do not take measures to make energy spending more efficient and do not change the heating schemes, then bankruptcy of other large energy companies functioning in the city, primarily in the field of heating, will be inevitable. The Department of Transport changed its mind on YABLOKO’s proposal to impose an SMS-warning system on towing of vehicles which will allow the drivers to displace their car so it won’t be towed. Despite the public declaration of the President and Prime Minister of Russia on the ease of punitive practices on behalf of the state, a series of arrests of YABLOKO representatives including YABLOKO deputies in the Petrozavodsk city council, who are accused of entrepreneurship fraud, has taken place recently.
